Dinner Idea

This is another one of our favorite dish combos:

Lechon Kawali and soupy squash and eggplants. The veggies are too soupy because my husband likes them that way. That’s probably the best lechon kawali I’ve ever cooked.

Cute Find for The Day

I found this cute lunchbox in the supermarket yesterday when I did some impromptu shopping for ingredients for a dish I was making for lunch. This is a freebie with every purchase of Lady’ Choice sandwich spreads. I also got a free half loaf of bread because of this purchase.

Now it houses my stationery:

I wanted to buy another for my son but the boys’ lunchbox wasn’t too appealing and creative. It just had a bunch of sports equipment on the cover.

Baking a Mini Chocolate Cake

It’s been so long since I last baked a cake. I found these silicone wares at Landmark on sale so I decided to buy them.

Silicone tools are a bit expensive so I was really glad that I got these at 20% off. I especially love this spatula. It’s so useful! I use it for cooking too!

We don’t have a baking oven. It’s more of a reheating oven so I had to do some trial and error. This cake wasn’t much to look at but boy was it delicious! My whole family enjoyed it.

This is a backlog post. I think I baked this cake way back in January. I haven’t baked since. It’s too hot to stay in the kitchen nowadays. But I’m sure that I will use the silicone cake mold again once it becomes cooler.

Real Women for Clinique

I chatted with a few ladies who attended the Clinique mini makeup workshop last week. Here are two of them.

Meet Ms. Lorna. She’s been using Clinique products for only a year but these products have made her a believer.

LadyE: What’s your favorite Clinique product and why?
Ms. Lorna: I can’t say I have one favorite product. I have several! The 3-step program, Dark Spot Corrector and the Serum
LadyE: Why do you like Clinique?
Ms. Lorna: I have sensitive skin and their products work well on me. Also, Beauty Consultant Baby’s service is outstanding.
LE: Why did you attend today’s event?
ML: I wanted to learn how to apply eyeshadow.

Next up is Ms. Eloisa. She has been using Clinique products for decades, back when she was still in her 20’s! And you could see the results. She still has very good looking skin.

I asked the same questions as above and here are her answers:

1. Moisturizer is her favorite product. It is definitely a must in her routine.
2. She likes Clinique products because they are hypoallergenic and allergy tested.
3. She attended the even to improve her makeup skills.

Finally, I talked to Ms. Tina who was very camera-shy so she declined a photo-op. Nevertheless, she was game with my questions. I also asked her the same questions.

1. Her favorite product is the Pore Refining Solution.
2. She likes Clinique because they feel natural on the skin and the products are easy to blend.
3. She attended today’s event to pamper herself a little and of course, to learn!

These women were such a joy to chat with. Although we all come from different age groups, we share a love for Clinique products. We all agree that Clinique is here to stay in our bathrooms and makeup vanities for a long, long time.

Big Bird’s Apple Juice

Apple & Eve is one of my favorite juice brands so naturally, I would buy this for my son. He only drank this once and then decided that he didn’t like it. He is very picky when it comes to fruit juices. The only juices that he likes so far are Mango and White Grape. I can’t get him to drink other juices. It’s okay as my husband and I enjoyed the leftover juice boxes. = )

This is available at Healthy Options.

Pink Bagging It

I usually buy things that I have no present use for a number of reasons -
1. I can’t resist the packaging
2. The item itself is too cute to resist
3. It’s on sale and it would be stupid to ignore it
4. I may have a use for it in the future

Such was the fate of this mesh bag. I bought it without a definite use in mind. I don’t carry see-through bags for security purposes so I was thinking that this would be more for other not-so-valuable items such as books, pens, notebooks, etc.

It has been sitting in my room for a while and then just the other day I took out my Loom projects and finally figured out a use for this pink bag.

Now all my creations are in this bag. I sell these by the way and some of my other creations over in Etsy. I haven’t uploaded all my creations yet as I am still finding the time but I’ll get there eventually.

Pink mesh bag from Daiso

Love this bag and I will definitely have many uses for this in the future.

Lady E's Tip - You can also use this bag for the beach or when you're going swimming.

Hello Kitty Fairy Tales

This is a waaayy overdue post. Mom got these for me in Bangkok.

Too bad she wasn’t able to buy all of them as they were already sold out! She thought that we also had this here in Manila. These are from McDonald’s, by the way. Happy Meals abroad rock! I wish we’ll have these Hello Kitty plushies again here.

Apple Butternut Squash

This is another variant of Earth’s Best Organic Baby Food that my son likes. I didn’t feed him a lot of fresh apples when he was younger because they made him constipated. This bottled food was my alternative so that he could still get his apple fix.

Back when he was still in my tummy, he enjoyed the pumpkin soup from Cibo a lot so it was only natural that he liked pumpkins and squash when he came out. He really liked this flavor and he could finish one bottle in one sitting.

Easy DIY Décor with Daiso

I am in no way affiliated with Daiso. I bought all these things with my own money. Posts are my own.

Remember my Daiso haul last weekend? That included a pretty tray that reminded of Cath Kidston products when I first saw it. Actually, it was my best friend C who found it and showed it to me. I immediately put it in my basket. I had a few ideas in mind with said tray. If you want to spruce up your vanity or desk or home office, here are a few ideas.

Anna Sui, Kenzo, Givenchy, Elizabeth Arden, Givenchy, Escada perfumes

You can display your perfume collection. Just pick out the prettiest bottles and voila! Instant glam for your vanity!

Accessories from my brand Hyphen, flower clips from Daiso

You can also display your favorite accessories. Add a few other pieces like a ring holder, some vacation mementos or a few flowers like I did here. Now you can control your clutter and maintain the pretty factor in your room.

IKEA Scented Candle, Lily Cole for TBS, China Glaze, Deborah Lippmann, Laura Mercier translucent powder, Chanel lipstick, Etude House Princess Etoinette lipstick, Benefit That Gal

Finally, display your makeup or your favorite things! I am a makeup artist  and a makeup junkie so I have tons of makeup lying around. This tray is a good way to keep them corralled in one space. It’s like a pretty junk holder. It instantly makes clutter look pretty!

Get this pretty tray for only Php88 at Daiso Glorietta 3! Stay tuned for more of my Daiso finds and more decorating tips!

English Muffins

I love English muffins for breakfast. I like to eat them with just butter or with ham and eggs. This time I cooked some bacon and egg. I think I need to buy some English muffins again so that I can eat a proper breakfast.

Let’s Talk Beauty Part 2

Continuing my post about the Day-to-Night Clinique Makeup Workshop.

Here’s Jhonhelle answering questions and giving more advice to participants

This is my palette of choice. My favorite color is green and I’m not afraid to use color on my eyes. This palette is called On Safari.

Jhonhelle’s Expert Tip – “Get a piece of tissue, fold into half and use it like so to catch all the eye shadow fall outs and to make a perfect outer V.”

My Expert Tip – You can also use Scotch's Invisible Tape

See, perfect outer V!

Don’t forget to blend it out to get rid of harsh lines

Here’s my version. I didn’t use a tissue anymore because I’m lazy like that. The colors won’t show because it was too bright in my area. This isn’t finished yet, by the way. I forgot to take a photo of my finished look but you get the idea.

Guest MUA, Ms. Vida

A subtle cat eye for day, flick it out dramatically for night

Here’s the finished look!

Makeup 101:
1. Apply foundation on your face with a sponge or with your fingers, whichever is more convenient for you. Just be sure to start with clean hands and fingers.

2. Set the liquid foundation by dusting some loose powder. Jhonhelle swears by Clinique’s loose powder.

3. Start with the eyes. Apply eye primer.

Choose your palette. Start with the lightest shade and apply it all over your eyelid until the bottom of your brown bone. See palette for guide:

4. Apply the second shade on your outer V. Apply the third shade on the center of your lids as a highlight. You can skip the darkest shade and use it for night but I applied it at the the tip of the outer V and on my crease. Line your eyes.

5. Use a highlighter or a concealer pen under your brow for highlight.

Jhonhelle’s Expert Tip – “This product makes your eyes look brighter and more awake, just like what they do with Hollywood stars”

6. Fix your brows. Just follow your natural shape. Use a brown brow pen. You can use a slanted brush to define the lines. After that , use a spoolie to tame stray hairs.

7. Apply your blush on the apples of your cheeks. Use sparingly to avoid looking like a clown! Try Clinique’s Cheek Pop for a natural flush.

8. Apply lipstick. If you have dry lips, don’t forget to apply lip balm first. Jhonhelle chose a raspberry shade for Elsa to make her lips pop against her subtle eye look.

Jhonhelle’s Expert Tip – “Use a bold lip color if you are using a neutral palette for your eyes to make your look more balanced and to make your features come alive.”

Crème Dessert

I ate this chocolate crème dessert months ago but until now I still can’t decide if I like it or not. It has a weird texture but the taste is okay.

Will Fly to Bangkok for These

I super, super love these rice crackers! I always ask for these whenever someone in the family goes to Bangkok. I’ll be sure to stock up on these next time I’m there.

These are sweet, a bit salty and spicy Jasmine rice crackers with sesame seeds and cashews. I can’t believe I finished one pack in just a couple of days…

Let’s Talk Beauty

In this week’s edition of What’s New at Clinique, I’ll be featuring the workshop we had yesterday at the Clinique counter in Rustan’s Makati. The workshop is about creating a day to night look and was conducted by none other than  Beauty Expert and resident MUA, Jhonhelle Jacinto.

This workshop is different because instead of just sitting around and watching Jhonhelle apply makeup on his muse, the participants were asked to apply the makeup on themselves. It was a very hands-on experience. This was a step-by-step tutorial starting with skincare.

This is the muse, Elsa. She is also a Clinique Beauty Consultant. She’s so pretty even with her bare face and her skin is flawless, courtesy of Clinique, of course.

Each participant was given a set of makeup brushes. These are my tools of the trade.

Makeup for everyone. My heart still flutters at the sight of pretty makeup

Sugar rush to get us excited about the event.

Having fun before the event starts

Here is Ms. Anya giving the opening remarks.

Let’s start!

Skin care 101:

1. Start with Clinique’s 3-step program – Cleanse, tone and moisturize but this time, set aside the moisturizing bit for just a while.

2. After applying your Clarifying Lotion, apply their newest product, Even Better Essence Lotion. More on this product soon.

3. After that, you can apply your moisturizer and eye cream. The Even Better Essence Lotion locks in moisture so it’s best to apply it before your moisturizer to get your skin ready to absorb all that moisturizing goodness.

4. You can also apply the Even Better Sunblock to protect your skin from the harsh UV/UVB rays.

Jhonhelle’s Expert Tip – “ Every great makeup starts with clean skin”

Invest in a good skin care routine and your makeup will always look great. Stay tuned for Part 2 of this post.
