3 Things You Can Do Right Now to Claim Your Sanity as a Stay-at-Home Mom

Let’s be real—being a stay-at-home mom isn’t just one job.
It’s ALL the jobs.
And if you’re running on 2 hours of sleep, crusty leftovers, and the hope that no one will ask you to find that missing sock…
this post is for you.

I've been a full-time stay-at-home homeschooling mom for 12 years. I gave up a lot of things to be here, and I don't regret my decision. Aside from taking care of my twice-exceptional son, I'm also running the household and running my businesses. There are days when I just want to scream into the void or maybe just a pillow. All these things can be overwhelming. I have friends tell me that what I do in a single day is equivalent to the task of 5 people.

So, in order to stay sane, here are three gentle, guilt-free things that I do that you can do today to breathe again.

1. Take a luxurious shower. Yes, luxurious.

Even if it's 10 minutes. Or 20. Or an hour.
Use that body scrub hiding in your cabinet (or try my current fave—you’ll love the review on my beauty blog). I also add a hair treatment while I'm at it.
Let the steam melt the mental load.
You’re not just rinsing off sweat. You’re rinsing off expectations, noise, and burnout.

Optional upgrade?
Finish with body oil or your favorite lotion.
Pretend you're in a spa.
Lock the door.
Play your playlist.
Light your favorite candle.

2. Make yourself a mocktail—or whatever feels fancy.

Juice in a wine glass?  Yes. With a piece of fruit on the rim? Heck, yeah.
Sparkling water with a frozen fruit cube and a mini umbrella? Even better.
Let your kids call it ā€œMommy’s Potion.ā€
Let yourself sip slowly. Sit down. Don’t multitask.
You deserve to drink something not out of a sippy cup.

3. Take that nap without explaining yourself.

You are not lazy.
You are not failing.
Your body is asking you for help, and rest is the answer.
Whether it’s minutes or a full hour while the kids play—recharging is not a reward. It’s part of the rhythm.

Because sometimes, reclaiming your peace doesn’t mean taking a vacation.
It just means taking yourself seriously enough to pause.
