Baon Food

If you are looking for a great packed lunch recipe, here’s one for you. These are mini meatballs with mixed vegetables in mushroom sauce. This is very quick and easy to make (aside from the meatballs which may take a little time).

You can use frozen meatballs or do them from scratch. Saute chopped onions and garlic in a little oil. Add a pack of mixed frozen vegetables. Add chopped mushrooms too if you like. Add the cooked meatballs and one small can of mushroom soup. Simmer. Season to taste. Enjoy for dinner and pack the leftovers for the kids and/or hubby the next day to enjoy for lunch.

This Keeps Me Busy

I started this blanket last June. It is a work in progress. I still have a couple of layers to attach. I ran out of yarn and the store was always out of stock. So it had to wait while I started other projects. I also need to crochet the edging. And yes, the little one sleeping also keeps me very busy. = )

Food That We Like

We like to eat. I am blessed to have a son who also loves to eat. Here are some dishes that we like.

I don’t know what this dish is called but it was delicious. Well, I kinda forgot actually…even the recipe. I don’t know why I do that. I keep forgetting to write down or save a copy of a recipe that really rocks. I think these are crispy beef strips with Mandarin oranges and a sweet and sour sauce. It also has cucumber strips.

My son and I love noodles. My husband, not so much. This kinda reminds me of that dish from Luk Yuen. That was what I was trying to achieve in terms of taste. This looks simple but it was packed with flavor.

Finally, these potato balls are just yum! I buy them frozen from the supermarket. My son loves them as a snack too.

Burger, Burger!

Every once in a while, I make an effort to serve home cooked burgers to my family. I hate cooking burgers because they require too much work. Like this one:

This is how it looks inside. There’s the burger patty, some cheese, onion jam, bacon and mayo. This was delicious! My husband and son loved, loved it! Serve it with fries and a cold, refreshing drink and you’ve got a great weekend lunch!

Energy Food

I was never a snacker. I can skip merienda (afternoon snack) and last until dinner but things changed when I got pregnant. Obviously I needed to eat more than 3x a day to keep my energy up and to feed my growing baby. When I gave birth, I needed more food to breastfeed him and to have the energy to do my chores and work.

More than a year later, snacking is still a very important part of my day. I just need to eat something before dinner. I can’t always whip up a sandwich and I really don’t like eating junk food so I stock up on biscuits and easy munchies. This combination helps me keep my strength until dinner time.

Nutella and pretzels! I just dip the pretzels in the jar and enjoy. As you can see, the jar is almost empty that is why I didn’t worry about dipping the pretzels in. I finished this jar after this photo. I don’t do that with a newly opened jar.

Love these small pretzels too. I got them at Rustan’s Supermarket for a little over 50 pesos which is a surprise really considering how expensive pretzels are here and this one came all the way from Germany. I really have to get a bag of these soon. Oh, and a tip. Transfer the pretzels to an air tight container after you open them as they lose their crispness fast. It was a lesson I learned the hard way.

Pretty Earrings

So, yeah.. I’ve been tinkering with my beads again. This was a special request from the SIL. I made her a bracelet prior to this request. I used the same beads. I made two pairs so that she can choose. She chose the one above.

This is the other one:

This pink one is for sale. I posted it on my Etsy shop but I think the listing has already expired. Send me an email ( if you are interested. It costs Php200 but blog readers get a 20% discount with code LERB. Free shipping in Manila too.

Things That We Like

Jake and the Neverland Pirates is our favorite so it is only natural that we have books and toys! We also like this set of Fisher Price sippy cups. They are cheap enough to be disposable but sturdy enough to be used over and over.

Ball mason jars will forever be in my shopping list. They have taken residence all over my house. We also like the sugar biscuits inside.

We love these chocolate biscuits from M&S. My son devours them.

My son and I love to do crafts, DIY and upcycling projects. As you can see, he couldn’t wait to play with this one. This is my Benefit Confessions of a Concealaholic  box which I covered with washi tape.

I use it to store my baubles. What are your favorites this week?

Gift Wrapping Ideas

Many, many years ago, I was super creative with my gift wrapping. When I became older, I got busier so I didn’t bother putting too much effort into gift wrapping any more. Now that I work from home, I can find time to be more creative again. Plus, crafting has become my outlet whenever I’m stressed. Here is a simple gift idea for kids.

My god son/nephew had his first birthday in July. I decided to give him 5 gifts for the 5 letters of his name. I wrapped each gift individually and stuck each of the letters of his name using hot glue. I bought the letters from the bookstore.

I also color coordinated the wrapping paper using white, gray and silver except for the first letter of his name. I used these colors to make them more “manly” as the letters are multicolored.

For the top portion, I used a doily and a silver cupcake holder and stapled them. I shipped the gifts to the province so suffice to say, they didn’t survive the trip. I have to think about my next strategy to help the gifts survive.

Hand Care for the Busy Mom

My hands… oh, my poor hands. My hands have been rough for as long as I can remember. Even as a kid, I’ve had rough hands. They have become worse when I became a mom as the chores doubled so I keep washing my hands. Here are a few hand care necessities that I stock on.

The hand wash is a staple. I use whatever is on sale or whatever is affordable. If it has moisturizer then that’s a bonus.

Another staple is Pocketbac from Bath and Body Works. I stock up on these when I go abroad or when I order from the US.  They’re just too expensive locally. I keep one in my bag and one on our table.

Finally, I make it a point to always have a tube of hand lotion in my bag and on my vanity. This is from Crabtree & Evelyn and was a gift from the SIL. I love, love the scent of this one. This is Taroco Orange. It’s very moisturizing and it is easily absorbed by my skin. I use it on my arms and elbows too. This is almost empty so I’ve been thinking about what to replace it with. I have a Soap & Glory hand lotion on my vanity but that’s for another post.

I'm Back!

Hey everyone! Sorry for the long hiatus. I've been very busy plus my laptop of 8 years has finally had its last hurrah so I've been really having a hard time writing. But, I'm back now so expect a ton of posts coming your way....starting tonight! To all those who are subscribed via email, please excuse the temporary burst of emails.
